Rohtak SP Vivek Sharma has shot off a communique to Deputy Commissioner Vikas Gupta regarding sealing of all the bank accounts of shelter home 'Apna Ghar' and its caretaker Jaswanti Devi, who is currently in judicial custody, at the earliest so that actual monetary status of these accounts could be ascertained, official sources said today.
Jaswanti had been running three welfare shelters--Apna Ghar (Child Welfare House), Mahila Aawas (Women Protection House) and Family Consultation Centre in Shri Nagar Colony here.
These centres had been opened under various schemes of central as well as state government for the welfare of destitute, homeless children, girls and women.
A hefty amount of monetary aid was being provided by the government to run the centres for the purpose, the sources said.
A Rohtak police spokesman confirmed that the police had started checking the bank accounts of the shelter house and its caretaker for further investigation.
"The preliminary investigation has revealed that Jaswanti with the help of her accomplices had handed over at least six child inmates of the shelter house to some people. Four police teams, which have been constituted to recover these children, are carrying out simultaneous raids at various places of Delhi and Jind," the spokesman said, adding that security of the shelter house had been strengthened to prevent any untoward incident.
He informed seven people, including Jaswanti, her daughter Sushma alias Simmi, son-in-law Jai Bhagwan, brother Jaswant, cousin Satish and Sushila and counsellor Veena, have so far been arrested in connection with the shelter home incident.

The Apna Ghar shelter house had landed into a controversy when a team of National Commission for Protection of Child Right (NCPCR) rescued nearly 120 people including children, girls and women from the house after carrying out a surprise raid here on May 9 night.
Two women who managed to escape from Apna Ghar had contacted the NCPCR had narrated to the rights body the alleged physical and sexual exploitation of inmates at the shelter, after which the raids were conducted.
The shelter house was being run by an NGO Bharat Vikas Sangh for several years.
A Special Investigation Team headed by a DSP rank officer had been constituted to carry out an indepth probe in the matter.
