The pro-united Andhra employees and others today announced a fresh round of agitation against the division of Andhra Pradesh.

The employees and other united-Andhra supporters would organise all-party meetings on January 14 in all districts and demand that the MLAs give an assurance that they would defeat the draft Telangana bill in the Legislative Assembly, P Ashok Babu, president of Andhra Pradesh Non-Gazetted Officers (APNGOs) association, told reporters.

The copies of the draft bill would also be burnt in the traditional 'Bhogi' bonfire organised on the first day (January 14) of the three-day Sankranti festival, he said.

He said a bandh would be organised on January 17 and 18 and during which all offices, including those of Central Government, would be shut.

There is also a plan to organise 'Chalo Assembly' on January 20.

After a prolonged impasse, the assembly had begun debate on the draft Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation bill 2013, a couple of days ago.
