was keen to overcome major challenges including availability of clinicians, affordability of treatment and availability of teaching institutions in taking high quality and latest medical treatment facility to the rural and two tier cities, its Executive Vice Chairperson Preetha Reddy said here today.

Inaugurating the Apollo Institute of Orthopaedics Shoulder and Knee Conference (International level continuing medical education on Minimally Invasive Orthopaedic Live surgery) today she said India had grown very well in the field of medicine and some of the hospitals in the country are equal to global standards in treatment facility, availability of equipments and trained personnel etc.."from the clinical point of view we are doing well "but the problem is making the same high quality of treatment available through out the Country.

The geographical challenge was being overcome by starting world class hospitals in the two tier cities where pathbreaking procedures like minimally invasive orthopaedic surgery etc were done. But the treatment facility should not be restricted to top hospitals, more doctors should learn about the latest technology and that was why it was organising CME programmes.

The Health insurance schemes had made the treatment affordable now a days. She appreciated the Tamil Nadu government for encouraging government doctors to attend CME programmes. Such measures would help the doctors update their knowledge in modern treatment facilities.
