Apparel & Garment Manufacturing centre in Nagaland

The priority of the central government is to tap ethnic cultural dresses and set up apparel manufacturing units for sustainable development of the northeast region, Union Minister of State for Textiles Santosh Kumar Gangwar said today.

Gangwar laid the foundation stone for Nagaland Apparel and Garment Manufacturing Centre in Dimapur this afternoon said that the BJP-led NDA government had several welfare programmes for the people of the region.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Nagaland on December 1, 2014 had assured to set up one Apparel and Garment Manufacturing Centre in each of the North Eastern State.

Expressing that the Central government is giving more emphasis for development of Northeast region, he said that if all the different schemes are implemented, the region can be brought at par with the rest of the country.
 

He said that the Apparel and Garment Manufacturing Centre in Dimapur will be completed within three months time, which will help developing the handloom and handicraft sector.

Appreciating the state government for allotment of land for setting of the centre, he expressed hope that the centre will help in providing job opportunities and gainful employment to young local youths.

The Union Minister also inaugurated the Weaver's Service Centre located at the same venue.
