Twenty-seven third and fourth grade employees of the health department have been dismissed from service after their appointments were found to be illegal in a probe, officials said today.
Health department officials said the state's Director (Health) directed the Morigaon Joint Director of Health to dismiss the 27 district employees who were found to have been appointed illegally without valid appointment letters.
These employees were drawing their monthly salaries from the Assam Health Directorate though they were without work for the past several months.

The employees were not even serving in Morigaon, the officials said.
The Vigilance Cell investigated the case following a complaint registered by an organisation. The appointments were found to be illegal in the probe.
