In response to Congress's April 19 rally where it plans to paint the Centre "anti-farmer", ruling BJP will engage its MPs on the same day in a workshop where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will speak on how to take the government's 'pro-poor' schemes to the masses.

The workshop 'Garib Kalyan Yojnaye: Its Effective Implementation and role of MP' will focus on the government's pro-poor welfare programmes and how to take them to the grassroots level.

Modi will deliver the inaugural address and party president Amit Shah will give the concluding speech, while senior ministers like Sushma Swaraj, Thawar Chand Gehlot, among others, would address the MPs, and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu making a presentation.

The workshop comes at a time when the Congress-led opposition is consistently working to paint the government as "anti-poor" and "pro-industry".

Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, who has returned from a sabbatical, is set to address the public at the national farmers' rally to be held at Ramlila Maidan on Sunday, while BJP's workshop takes place at Parliament's Balayogi Auditorium on the same day.
