The Andhra Pradesh State Warehousing Corporation (APSWHC) has decided to add 2.60 lakh tons of godown capacity in two years, mainly for the benefit of farmers.
APSWHC chairman L V S R K Prasad addressed a workshop held here today on 'Agri-warehousing and scientific practices'.
Speaking on the occasion, he said at present the APSWHC has 3.5 lakh tons capacity, and it has decided to add another 2.60 lakh tons capacity with a financial support of Rs 342 cr from the NABARD.

Priority would be given to cold storage facilities, and there was a plan to construct a multi-storied cold storage facility over 12 acres at Visakhapatnam.
Another cold storage would be constructed at Bhimavaram for the use of aquaculture farmers.
