Two days after his expulsion from the party, former Trinamool Congress MLA Arabul Islam today sent a letter to TMC supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjere apologising for his conduct.

Arabul told PTI, "I have sent the letter addressed to my leader Mamata Banerjee and sent a copy to Education minister Partho Chatterjee."

"I have sought forgiveness for my conduct and requested the party leadership to widraw the expulsion," Arabul said hinting at the October 25 incident of Bhangor in South 24 Parganas district in which two TMC men were killed in a clash between two factions.

One faction owed allegiance to Arabul, the strongman in Bhangor and a party MLA in past, villagers and local party activists said, leading to his expulsion for six years from the party as announced by Chatterjee on October 27.

In another development, a silent rally of over 300 people went around Bhangor holding placards 'Arabul ke maap karo' (please excuse Arabul).

The developments capped the warning issued by Trinamool Congress MP and Mamata Banerjee's nephew Abhishek Banerjee earlier in Kolkata that any act of indiscipline among partymen would not be tolerated.

Abhishek, who was recently asked by Mamata to shoulder greater responsibility in party affairs, was alluding to expulsion of the influential South 24-Parganas district leader two days back.

"Action will be taken against those who violate the discipline within the party and bring shame to the party," Abhishek, who was recently made head of the TMC's youth wing, said at the first meeting of the restructured TMC youth Congress state committee and district presidents.
