Aravind Eye Hospital forays into Chennai

Eye care provider Aravind Eye Hospital has forayed into Chennai with the setting up of new super speciality eye care centre.

The first super speciality eye care centre at Poonamalle near the city, is spread across five lakh square foot and includes all sub-specialities in ophthalmology, a press release said today.

"Aravind Eye Hospital dedicates its 12th hospital to the service of the community. The new hospital helps in our vision of responding to the increasing challenges of eye care in the country..", Aravind Eye Hospital, Chief Medical Officer, Dr Aravind said.

The facility will serve as a centre of excellence by treating patients and training eye care professionals.
 

The Centre has 750 beds of which 500 beds would serve the underprivileged either for free or at subsidised rates.

Aravind Eye Hospital plans to have a facility in Tirupati which is expected to open in 2018, the release said.

Madurai-based Aravind Eye Hospital has main centres in Theni, Tirunelveli, Coimbatore, Puducherry and Salem. It has outpatient facilities in towns and villages in State.
