CPI(M) veteran V S Achuthanandan has shot off a letter to the Chief Secretary, expressing displeasure over certain issues related to the Administrative Reforms Commission (ARC), of which he is the designated chairman.

He sent the letter a day after openly rebuffing Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's remark that he had assumed office as Chairman of Administrative Reforms Commission.

Sources close to the former Chief Minister had pointed out that he was not consulted while finalising the terms and references of the Commission and also on selecting the Office for the Commission.

Achuthanandan had asked for an office for the Commission in the Secretariat annexe building, while the government had allotted it at the IMG building at Vikasbhavan.

Yesterday while answering questions on the delay in taking over as Chairman, Achuthanandan had said "Ask the persons who made the appointment".

Delay in allotting staff and office for the Commission was stated to be reason for Marxist leader's discontent.

However, CPI(M) state Secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan made it clear that there was no confusion over the matter and Achuthanandan had informed the government in writing that he had assumed charge.

The order on the constitution of the Commission was issued on August six and in continuation of that, an order detailing the staff pattern and terms and reference of the Commission was issued on August 30.
