A new Aretha Franklin concert movie has been cut from another US film festival after the soul legend obtained an emergency injunction to halt a screening in Telluride, Colorado.

Bosses at the Telluride Film Festival were forced to pull the planned premiere of "Amazing Grace" when the singer's lawyers filed a last-minute motion in a US District Court in Colorado earlier this week objecting to the screening, reported Entertainment Weekly.

The film features footage shot by director Sydney Pollack at the New Temple Missionary Baptist Church in Los Angeles back in 1972, as Franklin recorded her live album Amazing Grace.

The Chicago International Film Festival honoured Pollack in 1986 at a gala hosted by film critic Roger Ebert.

"Amazing Grace" is scheduled to screen as part of the Toronto International Film Festival's slate later this week.
