An argument between a sub-inspector and a constable over assigning duty in the Anti-Terrorist Squad office took an ugly turn and ended in a scuffle.

They beat each other and lodged FIRs with Adarsh nagar police station, police said here.

"Sub-Inspector Bhawani Singh had alleged that constable Samrath Lal threatened him when he assigned him duty last evening," a police officer said.

"Soon after this, the SI informed his superior officer who directed him to make a remark about the incident in the complaint register. When the SI carried out the instruction, the constable allegedly thrashed him," the officer said.

Constable Lal, however, blamed that the SI misbehaved and passed casteist remarks against him when he had approached the SI with his leave application.

Preliminary investigation have revealed that the constable was guilty of indiscipline and has been transferred to his parent unit, the officer informed.
