Arhar drops on tepid demand, adequate stocks

Arhar prices plunged by Rs 300 per quintal at the wholesale pulses market today on muted demand from retailers at prevailing levels.

However, other pulses moved in a narrow range on scattered buying or selling and settled around previous levels.

Traders said fall in demand from retailers at existing levels against pick up in supplies in the market mainly kept pressure on arhar prices.

In the national capital, arhar dropped by Rs 300 to Rs 9,250, while its dal dara variety remained flat at Rs 12,500-14,500 per quintal, respectively.

Following are today's pulses rates (in Rs per quintal):

Urad Rs 9,050-10,050, Urad Chilka (local) Rs 10,100-10,300, Urad best Rs 10,200-10,800, Dhoya Rs 10,600-11,000, Moong Rs 7,200-7,800, Dal Moong Chilka local Rs 7,800-8,200, Moong Dhoya local Rs 8,150-8,650 and best quality Rs 8,650-8,850.
 

Masoor small Rs 5,250-6,250, bold Rs 5,300-6,300, Dal Masoor local Rs 6,500-7,000, best quality Rs 6,600-7,100, Malka local Rs 6,550-7,050, best Rs 6,650-7,050, Moth Rs 5,900-6,300, Arhar Rs 9,250, Dal Arhar Dara Rs 12,500-14,500.

Gram Rs 4,850-5,250, Gram dal (local) Rs 5,100-5,400, best quality Rs 5,300-5,600, Besan (35 kg), Shakti Bhog Rs 2,220, Rajdhani Rs 2,220, Rajma Chitra Rs 4,900-6,300, Kabuli Gram small Rs 5,300-7,500, Dabra Rs 2,700-2,800, Imported Rs 4,700-5,100, Lobia Rs 5,000-5,200, Peas white Rs 2,900-2,925 and green Rs 3,200-3,300.
