Prices arhar and other pulsesr drifted up to Rs 600 per quintal today largely on persistent supplies at the wholesale market, after the govermnent took steps to curb soaring prices.
Traders said adequate stocks following an improvement in supplies after the government measures including raids on hoarder, mainly attributed steep fall in pulses prices.
Meanwhile, faced with high prices of pulses, the government yesterday had hiked the support price to farmers for masoor and gram dals sharply by Rs 325 per quintal, including a Rs 75 per quintal bonus, to boost production in the ongoing rabi season and reduce dependence on imports.

In the national capital, arhar prices dived by Rs 600 to Rs 10,700 per quintal, while its dal dara variety, however, held steady at Rs 12,000-15,000 per quintal.
Urad and its dal chilka local fell by Rs 300 each to Rs 9,200-10,200 and Rs 10,300-10,500 per quintal respectively.
Its dal best quality and dhoya followed suit and traded lower by a similar margin to Rs 10,400-11,000 and Rs 10,800-11,000 per quintal respectively.
Masoor small and bold declined by Rs 200 each to Rs 5,800-6,600 each per quintal. Its dal local and best quality enquired lower by the same margin to Rs 6,900-7,100 and Rs 7,000-7,200 per quintal.
