Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda today suggested the BJP-led state government to ponder over setting up of a Film Finance Corporation (FFC), which would assist regional filmmakers as they grapple with funds.

In a letter to Chief Minister Raghubar Das, Munda said setting up of a FFC would help regional film-makers, particularly in tribal languages, and also allow the state filmmakers to use the picturesque spots of forest-rich Jharkhand free of cost.

Picking holes in the newly approved Jharkhand Shooting Regulation, 2015, Munda said the budget of regional filmmakers was between five lakh to ten lakh rupees, while the new regulation mandates Rs 50 lakh per week and additional Rs ten lakh each day after the week's duration for shooting films in Jharkhand.

The new policy would leave the regional filmmakers with a bleak future, the senior BJP leader said in his letter to Das, a copy of which was released to the media.

He alleged Jharkhand officials had followed regulations of Rajasthan, a state which was on top of the country's tourist map, while Jharkhand lags down the ladder.

"The film regulation of Uttar Pradesh could be followed as it gives financial grant to regional filmmakers," Munda said adding, support to regional films would help boost direct and indirect employment.
