Union minister Arjun Ram Meghwal on Friday slammed Congress president Rahul Gandhi for using "thief" word for Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
At a rally in Rajasthan's Dungarpur district on Thursday, Gandhi said now it is heard on the streets that the country's 'chowkidar' is a thief.
"Galli galli mein shor hai, Hindustan ka chowkidar chor hai," he said in Hindi.
Gandhi's words were unparliamentary and undignified, Meghwal told reporters here.
"Rahul Gandhi dislikes the fact that a villager became prime minister of the country. How can a villager become a prime minister as the post was reserved for Gandhi-Nehru family," Meghwal said.
He said that one should feel ashamed of using such a word for the prime minister of the country who was saving Rs 90,000 crore through a novel initiative like direct benefit transfer.
Rajasthan BJP president Madan Lal Saini also condemned Gandhi's remarks.
