Armed Forces Flag Day observed in Nagaland

Marking the Armed Forces Flag Day officers of Rajya Sanik Board (RSB) Nagaland and ex-servicemen on Friday called on Nagaland Governor PB Acharya at the Raj Bhavan here.

Acharya, who is also the ex-officio president of RSB, paid respect to the soldiers and veterans for their courage, honour, bravery and sacrifices.

He also urged the people to contribute to the Armed Forces fund for the welfare of ex-servicemen and their families.

Director, Rajya Sainik Board Nagaland, Rajiv Dong honoured the Governor with Armed Forces Flag Day badge.

Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, in his message, said the aim of the day is to honour the martyrs, veterans and brave soldiers who have been defending the country against external aggression and assisting in aid to civil authorities during natural calamities.

 

On this day, he said, citizens and volunteer organizations collect donation in exchange of token flags and car stickers throughout the country.

He said the fund so collected is meant for rehabilitation of war windows, disabled soldiers, ex-servicemen and their families.

Both the Governor and CM also appealed to all citizens for generous contribution for the noble cause.
