Four armed miscreants looted Rs 20 lakh from a vehicle carrying the cash from one branch to another of a nationalised bank in Assam's Darrang district today, the police said.
The heist occurred at Sikaribunglow village around 10 km from Tangla when the vehicle was heading towards the bank's Dimakuchi branch from its Tangla branch, the police said.
Two employees of the Dimakuchi branch along with a driver were carrying the cash in a car without security, the police said.
Police officers have rushed to the spot and have begun investigating the incident and an FIR lodged in Dimakuchi police station.
