Armed robbers loot cash, gold from bank

Around Rs 30 lakh cash and one kg of gold were today looted by armed robbers from the GR Road branch of Canara Bank here, police said.

"As per initial information, about Rs 30 lakh cash and one

kg of gold were looted from the bank by armed robbers. The bank is in the process of calculating the exact amount of the loot," SP Ajay Shankar Rai said.

The incident occurred in the afternoon when several customers were present at the bank. Five armed men entered the bank and made off with two bags containing cash and a gold box.
 

According to eyewitnesses, the robbers fled even as a bank

employee pressed the alarm button.

A case has been registered and investigation is on, he said.
