A cache of arms and ammunition has been recovered from a hill top tribal hut in remote Rambhaktapara in West Tripura district, about 40 km from here.

Inspector General of Police Nepal Das said today a few villagers in the process of collecting forest produce found that a few youths were staying in a makeshift hut in the lonely place at Rambhaktapara and reported to police.

Police launched a search operation yesterday and recovered three country-made guns, five live cartridges, some utensils and some garments from the hut, Das said.

Police also destroyed the hut.

It is suspected that some insurgents might have wanted to create a shelter there, Das added.
