Security forces have seized a stockpile of arms and ammunition from Senapati district of Manipur, officials said today.
During a search operation last Thursday by a joint team of Assam Rifles and the Army's Red Shield Division near Tamphung village, the jawans spotted some bamboos lying on the ground covered with grass in the jungles, they said.
After cordoning off the area and searching it, a stockpile of arms and ammunition were recovered which included one AK-47 series rifle with ammunition and one .22 assault rifle, officials said.
These areas are frequently used by insurgent groups as a transit route between Manipur and Nagaland to carry out anti-national activities, they said.
