Arms haul in Reasi district

Army today recovered some arms and ammunition hidden in a bag which was buried under the ground in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district.

Rashtriya Rifles troops effected the recovery during a search operation in village Chana at Mahore, Defence spokesman Col R K Palta said.

The recoveries included an IED, an AK 56 rifle, an AK 56 magazine and 20 rounds of AK 56 ammunition, he said.

The arms and ammunition were recovered from a bag buried 3-ft under the ground, the spokesman said adding these were detected with the help of Deep Search Metal Detector.

The arms and ammunition were buried by local terrorists and were meant for use against security forces, Palta said.
 

The arms were destroyed in situ, the spokesman said.
