Arms held in Guwahati

of arms meant for Meghalaya-based outfit Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) from Gorchuk locality of the city.

The arms recovered included a AK-47 rifle, grenade launcher, 400 rounds of bullets, a US-made .32 Berreta pistol, 25 light bomb shells and 500 round of ammunition last night, police said today.

Police arrested four GNLA cadres, including Pinto Marak who is the brother-in-law of the outfit's Commander-in-Chief Sohan d Shira. Besides, two others Nagaland-based arms smugglers were also apprehended with them.

The arms were brought from Manipur to Assam and was intended to be taken to GNLA camps in Meghalaya, police said.
