A suspected arms supplier to the Maoists was today arrested with two automatic pistols and 10 cartridges in the district.
Mohammad Shahnawaz was arrested from a railway crossing under Kasim Bazar police station on the basis of intelligence inputs, Superintendent of Police Barun Kumar Sinha said.
"Shahnawaz has been involved in supplying arms and ammunition to the Maoists. He was previously arrested in a case related to supply of weapons to Maoists in Nepal. He was released recently and we got information that he was back to his activities," Sinha said.
Munger, especially its hilly and forested regions, has long been a hotbed of Left Wing Extremism.
