Arms supplier wanted in a number of cases arrested by police

An arms supplier who was wanted by police in a number of cases and carried an reward of Rs 5000 on his head has been arrested by the Crime Branch of Delhi Police, a senior police officer said today.

The accused Ashish Shokeen alias Monu (25), who was wanted in three criminal cases registered against him in Harayana and Delhi, was absconding since last four years, said Ravindra Yadav, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime)

He was arrested from Madhuban Chowk in Rohini area on a tip off received by the Crime Branch cops.

During his graduation days, Ashish had murdered another student alongwith his associates including Sagar Maan, in a personal dispute. An FIR was registered in the murder at Kundli police station in Sonipat (Haryana).
 

He was absconding since then and was declared a proclaimed offender in the case. He was also learnt to be involved in supply of illegal arms and ammunition in his days of absconding, said the officer.

Police has booked him in relevant sections of the IPC and are trying to ascertain his involvement in other cases in Delhi, he added.
