Acting on a tip-off, security personnel arrested Naresh Sao, a resident of adjoining Ichagarh, from near Karadhoba bridge while he was allegedly carrying the explosives including a sample piece of cartridge of AK-47 yesterday, police inspector Arvind Kumar Singh said.

Singh said a booster, detonators, five/six ATM cards, three SIM cards, one MP-3 playeer, Naxal literature, a pen drive and Rs.37,000/- were also allegedly recovered from his possession.

The explosives were to be handed over to Maoists leader Maharaj Pramanik, when he was caught.

Sao told police that he had struck a deal with Pramanik for supply of AK-47 cartridges and had already received Rs.45,000/- as part of the deal.

He was carrying the sample piece of AK-47 assault rifle to get Pramanik's approval but the security personnel, who were keeping a vigil on Sao's activities for the last three days, arrested him.

A motorcycle, Sao was travelling on, was also confiscated, Singh said, adding the cost of the two-wheeler was worth Rs.1.25 lakhs.

Sao had links in Kolkata and Ranchi, from where he used to procure the AK-47 rifle cartridges, Singh said.
