Army busts NDFB(S) hideouts in Assam

Security forces busted two major hideouts of NDFB(S) militants inside thick jungles in Assam's Kokrajhar and Chirang districts, a defence spokesperson said here today.

Acting on a tip-off, army troops launched a search operation inside the thick jungles of Ripu Reserve Forest, approximately seven to eight km South from Indo-Bhutan Border, in Kokrajhar district last evening.

During search operations, an encounter took place with the NDFB(S) and the militants managed to escape, the spokesperson said.

The security forces recovered three AK-47, four grenades, approximately 500 rounds of AK-47 ammunition from the camp.

Another NDFB(S) hideout was busted by Army in the thick jungles of the Manas Forest in Chirang District yesterday.
 

The operation was launched on a specific intelligence, regarding presence of a hideout in Sadiya Ghat area in the forest.

Three rifles, 176 rounds of live ammunition, gunpowder, a motorbike and other stores were recovered during the operation, the spokesperson said.
