Army calls for synergised efforts to consolidate security

The Army has stated the need for "synergised effort" at all levels to consolidate internal security situation in the twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch.

"There is requirement for focused and synergised effort at all levels to consolidate the internal security situation," said I Narayanan, General Officer Commanding (GOC) Counter Insurgency Force during a joint security meeting held at the headquarters of the unit in Rajouri district.

He, however, appreciated the efforts of civil administration, police and security agencies for ensuring peaceful and conducive environment for common people.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Rajouri-Poonch range, Danish Rana, who was also present on the occasion yesterday, informed about the prevailing security situation in both the districts and also briefed them about the steps initiated to maintain people's confidence, a defence spokesman said here today.
 

Rana, expressed concern and need for a continuous watch on Mughal Road, which may be utilised for movement of logistics, weapon and funds by the extremists.

The security arrangements and role of different agencies for the forthcoming important events was also discussed during the meeting, he said.

Discussions were also held on establishment and manning of Joint Forest Posts in view of ensuing migration of Gujjars and Bakkarwals during summer, training of Village Defence Committees and monitoring of surrenders, the spokesman said.

DIG BSF R S Kataria was among other senior officers present in the meeting, he added.
