An Army captain posted in Jammu and Kashmir went missing while travelling by train from Katihar to New Delhi following which his relatives registered a case of suspected abduction with Railway police today.

Captain Sikhardeep (24) was going to New Delhi from Katihar by Mahananda Express on February 6 and his family had talked to him on phone that night but he did not reach Delhi, Rail Superintendent Jitendra Mishra said as per the FIR registered today with Katihar Rail police.

His father, Lt Col Anant Kumar, who is posted in Ranchi, suspected that Sikhardeep's disappearance could be linked to some terrorist organisation, the Rail SP said, adding police was looking into all angles.

An FIR has been registered on the basis of statement of Sikhardeep's brother-in-law, Jimmi Prakash, the SP said.

The SP said while his luggage was found intact in the train coach he was travelling in, Sikhardeep was nowhere to be found and his mobile was also switched off.

The TTE and the employee providing bedsheet in the coach said he was last seen at Kanpur during the journey.

Sikhardeep had come home for a month on holiday and was returning on Saturday by Mahananda Express.
