An 11-member team of the Army on Tuesday concluded a trekking expedition in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir, a defence spokesman said.
Over a period of 19 days, the trekking team of one officer and 10 other ranks covered about 182 km through treacherous and challenging high altitude terrain, the spokesman said. He said the trekking expedition was conducted from Chingam via Nagan Pass, Navapachchi (Marwah) and Dachhin Valley to Kishtwar from August 2 and the team was flagged-in at Kishtwar helipad this afternoon. The team traversed through inaccessible jungles of Naginsur and Krankalha ridge during the expedition, the spokesman said. He said the team also interacted with family members of people who were killed in the line of duty to maintain peace in the region. "This noble initiative of the Army to conduct this unique trekking expedition was also aimed at commemorating 25 years of relationship between the 'awam' (people) and jawans which has resulted in maintaining peace, tranquility, conducive environment and religious harmony in the region," the spokesman said.
