Army celebrates Naushera day

Army today celebrated 'Naushera Day' in a glittering ceremony to mark the defence of Naushera in the 1947-48 war with Pakistan.

A wreath was laid at Jadunath War Memorial by the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Northern Command, General Officer Commanding, White Knight Corps, General Officer Commanding, Ace of Spades Division and relatives of PVC awardee Naik Jadunath Singh.

A felicitation ceremony was also conducted on the occasion.

Veer Naris, veterans and soldiers injured in action were gifted knitting machines, gas chullas and watches, among others, while four meritorious students from Naoshera sector were given laptops.

Speaking on the occasion, Lt Gen Sanjiv Chachra, the Northern Army Commander recalled the saga of the soldiers and said their heroic deeds have been a guiding beacon for the Indian Army for generations and continues to inspire soldiers even today.
