Week-long Rajouri Liberation Day celebrations came to an end today with paying of homage to the brave soldiers and civilians of Rajouri who laid down their lives while repelling the Pakistan tribal invasion of 1948.
"Rajouri Liberation Day is celebrated on April 13 every year as it was on this day that Rajouri was liberated from intruders who had infiltrated from across the border," defence spokesman Lt Col Manish Mehta said.
He said that to motivate the youth of Rajouri to join the armed forces, lectures were organised by decorated Army officers for various schools and colleges, besides their visit to the hall of fame was also organised.
An impressive wreath laying ceremony was conducted at Gujjar Mandi Chowk Memorial here.
