South Western Command chief Lt Gen Alok Singh Kler was briefed on the steps taken to increase the Strike Corps-1's operational preparedness during his two-day visit here from September 17-18, a spokesperson said on Wednesday.
The commander was also briefed on the operational, training and administrative aspects by Lieutenant General Amardeep Singh Bhinder, General Officer Commanding Strike Corps-1, Lt Col Ashish Bajpai said.
"He expressed deep appreciation of the measures undertaken to enhance its (the corps) operational preparedness," he said.
Alok Singh was accompanied by his wife Anu Kler, who is the Army Wives Welfare Association's regional president.
Efforts of the formation to improve the quality of life of soldiers and their families was also appreciated by the commander, Bajpai said.
He said Anu Kler was informed about the various welfare measures implemented in the Mathura Garrison for soldiers and their families, and for Veer Naris, whose husbands were killed in the line of duty.
