Army commences 'Swachh Bharat Campaign' in Jammu

Army today commenced "Swachh Bharat Campaign" at Cantonment Board in Jammu winter capital city.

The call for "Swachh Bharat" as a movement to realise the Mahatma Gandhi's dream of a clean India by October 2, 2019 on the occasion of his 150th birth anniversary, given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was commenced today at Cantonment Board Jammu, a defence spokesman said.

In this regard, the activities and events have been planned in the whole Cantonment including sensitising people for cleanliness, removal of roadside vegetation and sweeping of roads, lanes and drains by using chemicals, he said.

Plantation of trees, proper lighting and replacement of faulty units, slogan and essay competition, replacement of damaged dustbins and re-painting of the old one and repair of taps and cleaning of water coolers installed in the schools, hospital, office and public places are included in the campaign, he said.
 

A special sanitation team has been formed for "Swachh Bharat Campaign", he said, adding, the team will take special cleanliness drive in all wards of the Cantonment, schools and hospital.
