Army events for kids as part of Golden Jubilee of 1965 war

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the 1965 Pakistan war, Army today organised a chain of programmes including an armoured battle show and exhibition for school students and their parents.

"Tiger Division today, as part of national celebrations to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of victory of 1965 war over Pakistan, organised audio-visual presentation-cum-exhibition for students of Army Public School, Miran Sahib and their parents who reside in the border region of R S Pura Sector in Jammu," Defence PRO Lt Col Manish Mehta said.

The presentation-cum-exhibition, which was attended by 100 children and 75 parents, showcased Indian Army's saga of valour, he said.
 

They were given a glimpse of a war and related activities through audio-visual means as well as a exhibition of rare photographs. The war account and dispatches of Major General (Retired) M M Beliappa, who was the then adjutant of 1 Sikhli, were also shared with the audience.

"The event inspired the students and also educated their parents about the glorious traditions of Indian Army," Lt Col Mehta said.

The Western Command Headquarters had planned a series of events to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the 1965 war.
