The Army today felicitated a young civilian here for tipping off the force about the suspicious movement of unknown persons that lead to the Arnia encounter last month which left 12 people dead including five civilians and three army personnel.
Lt Gen K J Singh, GOC-in-C Western Command visited Pindi Kathar village of Jammu District, where five civilians were killed by the terrorists on November 27.
He felicitated a the civilian braveheart in a simple ceremony.

Singh interacted with the people of Pindi Kathar Village and expressed his gratitude for their exemplary courage and sense of responsibility, Army officials said.
On November 27, the youth had provided the timely input to the Army about the suspicious movement of unknown persons, which led to the two day encounter with the terrorists, who had infiltrated into the area.
During the ensuing Army operation in the area, on November 27-28, four hardcore militants were killed by the Army, thus averting a major terrorist strike.
The ceremony was attended by all the villagers of the area.
The Army Commander assured the villagers that the Army is always ready and will provide all necessary support for their development.
