Lt Gen Ved Chaturvedi today took over as the new Director General Medical Services (Army) here.
A renowned rheumatologist and recipient of the Vashisht Seva Medcal (VSM), Lt Gen Chaturvedi till a few months back was the Deputy Commandant and Chief Instructor of Army Medical Corps Centre and College at Lucknow.
The lone DM-qualified super-specialist of Rheumatology in the Armed Forces Medical Services, Chaturvedi has held several important positions in his career, including that of senior adviser and head of Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology Department at Army Hospital Research and Referral centre in New Delhi.

He is credited with being the first rheumatologist in the country to establish the concept of musculo-skeletal ultrasound and his area of research interest includes new drugs for rheumatic disorders.
Having vast teaching and clinical experience, he has to his credit various works and articles published in many national and international journals. He has also been a President of the Indian Rheumatology Association.
