Army holds Medical camp for border dwellers in Akhnoor

The Crossed Swords Division today organised a 'Sainya Chikitsa Shivir' as part of medical outreach campaign of the Army Medical Corps at the border village of Pallanwala in Akhnoor, about 35 kms from here.

During the camp, which was organised to commemorate the 250th anniversary of Army Medical Corps, a team of Army doctors, including specialists from Head Quarters Northern Command and Crossed Swords Division rendered medical care to the local population of the area.

"Medical aid in the form of free medicines, consultation, antenatal facilities and counselling regarding HIV and family planning was provided during the camp," an official spokesman said.
 

"Medical aid and equipment like tricycles, wheel chairs, crutches, prosthetic boots were also presented to the patients," he said.

The event was inaugurated by Lt Gen K R Salgotra, VSM, DCIDS (Med) in the presence of General Officer Commanding Crossed Swords Division and a number of senior Army Medical Corps Officers.
