Army jawan's body cremated

The body of sepoy R Ranjith, who died along with two others in a road accident in Jammu and Kashmir recently, was today cremated with full military honours at his native village in Tamil Nadu.

The mortal remains, which arrived here late last night, was received by Station Commander, Chennai, along with senior officials at Chennai Airport, an official release said.

The body was then taken to Kambapattu village in Tiruvannamalai district.

Ranjith along with Major Inderjit Singh of Pune, Naik Pushpinder Singh from Punjab attained martyrdom while four others were injured when their vehicle carrying troops for operations against militants, met with an accident in Kupwara district in Jammu and Kashmir recently, it said.
 

Ranjith had volunteered to drive the vehicle in inclement weather, the release said.
