At least five militants were killed and 10 others injured today when security forces pounded their hideouts in Pakistan's restive northwest tribal region, where military has launched a major offensive against the Taliban.
The security forces targeted rebels in the Akakhel and Sipah areas of Khyber district.
"Five militants were killed and 10 injured in the attack," a security official said adding that artillery and mortars were used by the forces.

Both the areas are considered as strongholds of Lashkar-i-Islam militant organisation.
Around 60 militants have been killed in Khyber-I offensive launched against militants in the Khyber tribal district last month.
According to officials, the operation will continue till the extremists are completely wiped out.
