A 25-year-old army jawan was found hanging from the ceiling fan in his room in the barrack in Delhi Cantonment of South West Delhi in a suspected case of suicide, police said today.

The deceased, identified as Balaji Ji, was attached with the Army's Madras regiment.

"He was unmarried and was supposed to go on leave. It is yet not clear what made him take the extreme step as no suicide note has been recovered from his possession," said a senior police official.

The incident took place around 11PM on Wednesday after which police were informed.

"The body was sent for postmortem. The autopsy report has confirmed the cause of death as suicidal. It seems that he committed suicide due to some personal problems," the official said.

Police also spoke to his family but they also could not point out any reason for his alleged suicide.
