27-year-old Jitendra Janmeda, a rifleman with the Indian Army, took the extreme step after he came to meet his wife at her residence in R K Puram area. The couple have been living seperately for sometime now, police said.
Janmeda came to meet Deepika Tomar at 9 AM today but an argument took place between the them.
"They had an argument over some family dispute before Janmeda took the extreme step," a senior police official said, adding that they have been admitted to Safdarjung Hospital.
