The Defence ministry today said that two Army Nursing education schools are being upgraded to colleges which will address academic and nursing needs of the armed forces.

The School of Nursing Army Hospital (research and Referral) Delhi Cantt and School of Nursing Command Hospital (Central command) has been converted to colleges of nursing recently, defense ministry officials said today.

They have now been affiliated to Delhi University and Chhatrapati Sahu Ji Maharaj Medical University respectively.

Before this upgradation, both the institutions were offering three and a half years diploma programme in general nursing and midwifery under DGAFMS Examining Board, they said.

"To address the academic needs of the armed forces, necessity to upgrade the existing curriculum to B.Sc nursing due to the exponential growth of medical knowledge and technology was felt and the upgradation has now turned into reality," they added.
