A 24-year-old daughter of an Army officer today allegedly committed suicide by jumping off the terrace of a six-storey building in Madhya Pradesh's Jabalpur city, police said.

The deceased, identified as Mayurika Chouhan, had left her Napier Town home in the city after telling her family members that she was going to attend a coaching class, police said.

"However, instead of going to the coaching class, Mayurika went to the six-storey building located in Badshah Halwai Mandir area," Gwarighat police station in-charge Rakesh Tiwari said.

When Mayurika reached the building, the security guard at the gate asked her to make an entry in the register, but she ignored him, he said.

"She went to the terrace of the building and plunged to death," the officer said.

The cause behind Mayurika allegedly taking the extreme step cannot be known immediately, Tiwari said.

"We have seized the broken mobile phone handset of the deceased. We are analysing her call records," he said.
