Captain Anuraj Raj was killed by his servant Bhullai Ram, who was nurtured by the officer for over a decade like a family member, in 2007 after they returned from Uttar Pradesh on a private trip.

Bhullai Ram attacked Raj on his head with a butt of double barrel gun belonging to the Captain and then killed him by smothering him with a pillow. After that, he stuffed the dead body in a sack which he kepy in an iron box.

Then he took the body in his car and buried it in his house at Rae Barreilly, police said.

The case was cracked and Raj's body discovered after the Delhi High Court passed an order to transfer the investigation of the case to a Special Team of Delhi Police following a petition by the Army officer's family.

During investigation, police concluded that Raj was last seen with his aide Bhullai Ram in the last week of March, 2007.

Police also came to know that Ram was involved in five criminal cases. He was finally arrested in March.

During interrogation, South District DCP Chhaya Sharma said Ram told the police that when they were coming from Uttar Pradesh, some altercation took place and he threatened to kill Raj for his misbehavior.

"On reaching Delhi, Capt Raj asked Bhullai Ram to go back to his native village but somehow Bhullai Ram managed to stay with Anurag Raj. After 2-3 days, again Capt Raj demanded his money back from Bhullai Ram which he had given for construction of his house at Rae Bareilly," Sharma said.

In a fit of anger, Capt. Anurag Raj also tore a will which he had executed in the favour of Bhullai Ram and again asked him to leave his house.

"Then, Bhullai Ram attacked Raj on his head," she said. PTI ETB
