Army organises drug awareness campaign in Punjab

Over 2,000 students from schools, colleges, sports clubs and NGOs today participated in a drug awareness campaign conducted by the Army at Dera Baba Nanak in the district today.

The aim of the campaign was to create awareness among local youth about ill-effects of drugs and to educate them on healthy way of life, according to a defence release.

The campaign commenced with a drug awareness march from Kallanwali Chowk to DBN stadium in the city, it said.

De-addiction awareness stalls and programmes were also put up by Red Cross Society and non-government organisations (NGOs) to educate local youth, who were also exhorted to join the defence forces.
 

Many dignitaries including Lt Gen (Retd) Kamaljit Singh, Col (Retd) A S Bhullar, civil administration officials among others, the release said.

The programme culminated with felicitation of the participants.
