The Army today paid compensation of Rs 5.25 lakh to a porter, who was injured in a landmine blast along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district.
"Army authorities paid compensation in respect of porter Imran Razak Khan of village Sandhote in Mendhar border tehsil of the district for a sum of Rs 5,25,907 today," a defence spokesman said.
Khan had sustained mine blast injury to his right leg while carrying out bonafide military duty on May 21, 2007, and was entitled compensation under the workmanship compensation, the spokesman said.
Head of the compensation cell, Ishaar Ahmed, on the behalf of the Army, handed over the cheque to him in the presence of the Army and civil representatives.
