Army pays homage to slain sepoy Subinesh

Army today paid homage to Sepoy Subinesh, who made the supreme sacrifice during encounter with terrorists near the Line of Control in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.

A wreath laying ceremony was organised today at Advanced Landing Ground, Rajouri to pay homage to the sepoy who martyred yesterday while foiling an infiltration bid by a group of terrorists on the LoC in Noushera belt of the district, a Defence PRO said.

He was part of the Army column which yesterday foiled the infiltration bid by the terrorists. In the ensuing firefight, Sepoy Subinesh AM, from Kerala, sustained a fatal gunshot injury and laid down his life in the line of duty in highest traditions of the Indian Army, the PRO said.
 

The wreaths were laid on behalf of Lt Gen D S Hooda, Army Commander, Northern Command and Lt Gen R R Nimbhorkar, General Officer Commanding, 16 Corps as they paid rich tributes to the martyred soldier.

The Officiating General Officer Commanding of Ace of Spades Division and Commander Naushera Brigade also laid wreaths as a mark of respect to the braveheart, the Defence official said.

A guard of honour was also presented to the martyred soldier and then his mortal remains were sent to his native village for the last rites.

At Jammu Technical Airport wreath was also laid by Major Gen Sanjeev Narain, General Officer Commanding of Tiger Division, the Station Commander Nagrota and the Chief Administrative Officer Air Force Station Jammu, the official added.
