Army provides medical aid to over 21K people in flood-hit J&K

Army has so far provided medical treatment to over 21,000 people in flood-ravaged areas of Jammu and Kashmir and is in the process of setting up a field hospital in Srinagar to boost its efforts.

Army doctors have provided medical attention to over 21,000 people in various places in Jammu and Kashmir, a defence spokesperson said today.

Army has so far set up field medical units in Avantipur, Patan, Anantnag and old Srinagar Air Field, he said.

"It is also in the process of setting up a field hospital in Srinagar," he said.

"About 96 medical teams are working round-the-clock," the spokesperson said, adding, the Nursing Officers of the Army are also extending help by preparing meals for civilians stranded in Srinagar Cantt.
 

Yesterday, Army doctors treated more than 85 adults and nearly 40 children in a single day, while 355 seriously-ill people were air-lifted out of affected areas.

The Army had yesterday also evacuated a pregnant woman from her house in Srinagar to a military hospital where she gave birth to a baby boy.
