Army rescues 9 persons as vehicle falls into gorge

Army troops today rescued nine persons after a vehicle in which they were travelling rolled down into a gorge in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, a day after 24 people died when an overcrowded bus fell into a deep gorge in Udhampur district.

The ill-fated vehicle fell into the gorge at Jabbar Morh on Deri-Ki Gali-Thanamandi Road in Rajouri district and nine passengers, who were trapped in it were rescued unhurt, Army officials said.

On getting information, the troops of 38 Rashtriya Rifles Battalion rushed to the accident site and all the nine passengers were safely evacuated from the vehicle, they said, adding, they escaped the accident unharmed.
 

Yesterday, twenty four people died and 49 others were injured, five of them critically, when an overcrowded bus rolled down into a 300-feet deep gorge in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir.
